Vitamin D is essential to many different functions in our body.
Bodily functions such as:
- insulin sensitivity
- mood
- and mineral absorption.
All of those functions and more utilize vitamin D.
Almost more than 50% of the world has a vitamin d Deficient.
While you can get vitamin D from the sun. It’s harder in cold climates like the midwest.
Therefore supplementing with vitamin D is a much easier process. Plus the pills ar super tiny no matter the brand.
What happens if you are deficient in Vitamin d
Poor or inhibited muscle recovery. If you work a laborious job, or train a lot, you’re more susceptible to injury, sprains and tears.
Supplementing Vitamin D is not going to make you superhuman. It will help maximize your recovery.
Depression can also occur in someone deficient in Vitamin D.
This can include a form of depression called seasonal affective disorder.
The symptoms can include:
- insomnia
- weight gain
- fatigue
This is commonly experienced in the winter time.
The summer time is the most optimum time for obtaining vitamin d from the sun. Supplementation is still key.
How to take it
Its a fat soluble vitamin and is best taken with a fatty food like avocado for example.

You can’t get vitamin d from diet alone. In fact due to the way most foods are grown or processed I believe a multivitamin can help alleviate most of the shortages.
For those who are of a lighter skin complexion wearing sun block won’t hinder your ability to get vitamin d from the sun.
