David and Goliath why should you even bother to read it David and Goliath is a book that documents the underdogs, it looks at all the unconventional ways the underdog is able to secure his victory and success. This book is for anyone interested in a unique perspective on success psychology. And David and Goliath also sheds light on the behind scene realities or historical events that you may not have known. The story of David and Goliath We all know the story of David and Goliath, Malcolm Gladwell makes a case that David as not the underdog. Why does Malcolm believe that David wasn’t an underdog? Qute simply with out getting to in depth, the sling is a projectile weapon, which allowed David to say out of Goliath’s reach. Malcolm Gladwell also makes the case that Goliath could of had a mental handicap or illness as well. Stop trying to become an Elite or compete with them Most people make the mistake of either desperately doing any and everything to be come elite or to fit in with the elite. This is the worst possible approach to take, especially because most of us trying to hit a target that will forever be moving. What should you do instead? Carve out your own niche. Rather than competing against others its more important create and follow your own path. Most people were in fact outliers in the same position as you. Excessive privilege We tend to think the richer the parents are, the more successful the kid would be. However we see more and more that kids, of affluent people lack discipline, because they have no accountability or consequences for anything they do wrong. While less affluent kids are expected to be more independent disciplined and responsible. Since they are less affluent, they usually value money more and are more mindful of it. Summary of David and Goliath Employ unconventional tactics Guerrilla warfare, is a means of fighting bigger armies with limited resources. Malcolm Gladwell, has an interesting take on the civil rights movement, which I more or less wholeheartedly disagree with. But it is an interesting twist on history. This would I guess bring yup the next point Gladwell makes in David and Goliath, which is doing things that people find unsettling. Other books by Malcolm Gladwell , that I own and have reviewed.
