# Lean Neck: The Architecture for This Frame

## Layer 1: The Frame

The Lean neck is underdeveloped relative to everything else. Direct work closes the gap quickly at this somatotype.

The Lean at 115-135 lbs training neck requires archetype-specific mechanics. The Ecto-Meso/Mesomorph structure at this weight creates specific lever lengths and recruitment patterns that determine which movements produce mechanical tension and which produce compensation.

## Layer 2: The Anatomy

The mesomorph neck responds to plate-loaded extension and flexion more visibly than lighter archetypes. The Lean frame's faster adaptation rate means neck circumference development is visible within 6 to 8 weeks of consistent training. Postural integrity from neck training also improves the visual impact of the back and shoulder development the Lean frame has already built.

## Layer 3: The Protocol

Primary: Neck extension with plate 3 sets of 15 to 20 reps. Progress to heavier plates sooner than lighter archetypes. Secondary: Neck flexion with plate 3 sets of 15 reps. Tertiary: Neck lateral flexion 2 sets of 12 per side. Frequency: twice weekly.

Volume landmarks: maintenance at 8 to 10 weekly sets. Growth threshold at 12 sets. Specialization at 16 to 20 sets. Add load only when the previous weight executes with full range and zero form breakdown.

## Layer 4: The Psychology

The Lean neck responds to plate loading at a visible rate. Build it with the same intentionality as the primary muscle groups.

Action Trigger: When exactly is your next neck session, and what load will you use on the primary movement?

## Layer 5: The Exit

The Lean neck trained twice weekly with progressive plate loading produces the cervical development that completes the upper body.

The Lean frame that trains neck with archetype-specific mechanics for 12 consecutive weeks produces structural development that generic programming cannot deliver. The selection, execution cues, and volume landmarks are calibrated to this frame.
