This quick post will take aim at pointing out the benefits of making protein a key staple in your diet.
There are low carb diets that make protein a staple, and then there are some diets that don’t make it a prominent feature of that diet.
In terms of seeing clients transform and see the physiques and bodies they’ve been dreaming of I am an advocate of getting in the right amount of protein.
Recovery is everything
While I have still to make an article detailing the benefits of optimizing your recovery efforts.
This is one of the reasons protein is good for weight loss , after a long hard training session protein can help you recovery and reduce soreness.
Your body is also able to repair itself way more efficiently with protein than it is without protein.
TEF and Fat burning and Carbs
Protein requires more calories be burned to process it, versus carbs and fats. This is know as thermic effect of food. Eating enough protein is key when trying to lose weight, or lean out. Fat needs carbs or protein to help it burn efficiently as a source of energy.
With the right amount of protein in your diet you don’t have to worry about burning off too much muscles while on the quest for the body you want.
Protein mixed with high carb meal, can help stave off sugar crashes, by slowing down absorption of sugar. Giving your body a steady supply of sugar versus a high, followed by a crash.
The main reason I say most people can get away with a 70% clean diet
Protein, can make you feel fuller longer, and it also save you some calories. When you choose to eat high fat or high carb meals, even if we are tracking are macros, we can still end up feeling hungry.
However with a shake or some other form of high quality protein, prioritized earlier in the day. You can enjoy a slice of cake or something less than desirable in terms of your weight loss goal.
The simple reason being if we hit close to what our protein intake should be for the day we should be feel full.
Even if you notice you have more calories you can consume, most of us won’t even finish that cake because we will feel to full.
Which is a gratifying experience knowing that you can still enjoy some foods, and not have to over indulge.
Which is why protein is good for weight loss.
