When people workout, amongst the number one  most debated topic is rep scheme.

Delving further into an even more niche portion of that topic which, would be fat loss. People will argue for hours in the gym and even online as to what burns fat better, high rep or low rep schemes.

The answer is simply you need both schemes along with several other variables.

Having a clean diet, proper recovery, sleep, and hydration plays a role in addition to the intensity of the workout. Interval based training burns fat and helps you maintain the muscle.

It is still accepted as fact, that light weight tones muscle, the act of toning is caused by hypertrophy. One can argue that toning isn’t really a thing, however in terms or what’s light, I use percentages to determine what’s light based off my clients typical work load. You need a challenging weight in order to produce enough stimulus, that’ll tell your body to keep building muscle.

Full body compound exercise trump, isolation exercises in terms of what produces greater fat loss.

The reason heavy lifting is a must is because again paired with the proper protocol and diet, you’ll hold on to your muscle and burn more fat than muscle.

Why can’t I only  do cardio?

Cardio if properly done has the potential, to burn more calories than a resistance based workout, but only during the workout. After a workout if you only did cardio, you’ll stop burning calories, but if you did resistance training or even better interval training; you’ll  continue to  burn calories for several hours after the workout.

Never neglect nutrition or sleep

  1. Maintain subtle calorie deficit and adjust accordingly.
  2. Make sure to stay hydrated, and get proper sleep.
